Software developer
I build software that works quietly in the background.
Thirteen years designing and building websites and applications — from the products people click through to the systems that keep them running. I favour code that's simple to read, easy to maintain, and does exactly what it needs to, without ceremony.
A little more context
Over the past 13 years I've worked across the stack — building customer-facing websites, internal tools, and the APIs and services that sit behind them. Most of that time has been split between front-end interfaces people use every day and back-end systems that need to hold up quietly under load.
I like projects where the problem is well understood before the code is written, and I try to leave things simpler than I found them — for whoever touches the codebase next, including me.
Technologies I use most
The core of my day-to-day stack, across front end and back end.
-
Node.js
Server-side JavaScript for APIs, services, and background jobs.
-
JavaScript
My default language for anything that runs in the browser or on the server.
-
Angular
My default framework to build any web or mobile app.
-
HTML5
Semantic, accessible markup as the foundation of every page I build.
-
CSS3
Layout, responsiveness, and the small details that make an interface feel right.
-
C#
My go-to for strongly typed application and service code.
-
.NET
The framework I reach for when building APIs and enterprise-grade applications.
